Topic
During this term we will be focused on a history-based topic. Children will develop their understanding of the UK by learning to name and locate the 4 countries and their capitals that make up the United Kingdom.
Children will go on to learn about castles, their key features and why these great buildings were built. There will be a blend of fact finding, creating maps and fact files as well as a strong link with art and design allowing children to express their learning creatively, using techniques such as drawing, painting, and sculpture with a variety of materials.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Writing
This term our writing will be focused on the wonderful classic fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. This time our book is a retelling of the story by Lauren Child.

Science
Uses of Everyday Materials
In this unit, children will learn how to: identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials, including wood, metal, plastic, glass, brick, rock, paper and cardboard for particular uses. They also learn how to find out how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching.
The lessons are designed to challenge children to develop and recall the knowledge and skills they have covered in all their previous learning.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PE
Our PE days will be Mondays and Thursdays (with Mrs Foster)
On PE days, the children need to come to school in their school PE kit with their school uniform packed to change into if they get very wet during a PE lesson.
Please remember jogging bottoms when the weather turns colder.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please bring school uniform in a named bag in case we need to change after PE due to bad weather.
