English
In English we are going to carry on with our spelling and handwriting as normal. In phonics I have been recapping the sounds we know were weak from our assessments we did in early March. I will carry on doing this but am also adding a link for some daily phonics if you want a short daily input as we would do in school.
In writing we are going to put our skills to the test and practise some letter writing - think of someone to write to who will really appreciate your letter!
Please do 10 minutes of daily reading and look out for details of a book swap for your school reading books. I have also added the Teach Your Monster to Read website link to the websites at the top of the page as I know some of you have been using this and really enjoying it.

We are going to look at both the 'e' sound and the 'ee' sound as some children mix this up.
Letters and Sounds is the Department of Education scheme we follow in school and they are starting a daily online lesson on YouTube from Monday 27th April. I have included the parents guide and introduction to the Year 1 lessons for you to try plus the introduction to learning to blend for those that need extra practise.
Plus games on Phonics play if you want to do more.
Writing
In writing this week we are going to learn about writing letters. Remind the children that they wrote a letter to the Firemen and one to Santa at school. Can they remember how to set a letter out?
Watch the PowerPoint to help or read 'The Jolly Postman'.
Choose somebody to write to - maybe a lonely neighbour or Grandma and Grandad who would really appreciate a letter and pictures telling them what you have been doing.
You may need to write in rough and then do a best copy in neat handwriting!
Then put your letter in an envelope, write the address and go and post it on your daily walk!
