The Elves and the Shoemaker
This week, all of our home learning tasks are linked to this classic fairy tale. Start by reading the story and then answering the questions with an adult. The questions in yellow boxes are to be discussed as part of a conversation, and the others will need written answers.
Word Play
Look at some of the words found within the story. What do you think they mean? Can you categorise them into word types?
Write a Postcard
You've written some fantastic letters to me, so I know you'll do well on this task. Use your imagination to write a postcard as if you were one of the elves.
Write a story based on the Elves and the Shoemaker
Use this guide (see below) to create a story using a story mountain. Your story should have a beginning, middle and an end. You can make notes first (with words or pictures) so you have an outline of the story before you start writing. It will help to talk about your ideas first with an adult.
Saving the best until last!
Poetry is one of my favourite subjects! You can play with words and be really creative.
This task needs you to create your own riddle (based on viking kennings - which will be part of the KS2 curriculum). You might use your animal you investigated as part of your home learning a few weeks ago, or you can choose a new one!
