I think you all enjoyed the RNLI and lighthouse work before half-term and I loved seeing all your work and models.
We are going to follow on this week starting to read about oceans, finding out some facts and writing our own information for a non-fiction book.
We will carry on with our usual handwriting and spelling. I have included some year 2 spelling words so please choose the ones appropriate to for your child.
In phonics we are going to look at the i - e spilt digraph. Please carry on watching the 'Letter's and Sounds' Year 1 daily phonics lesson on YouTube (10.30am) too.
Please read for 10 minutes a day either your school books, Ebooks from www.oxfordowl.co.uk or your own books are fine too. I know a few of you have read to Grandparents on FaceTime or socially distanced which is lovely as well.
1. Read the non-fiction book 'Fact Cat - Ocean'.
2. Look at the contents page and choose either Tropical oceans or Temperate and Polar oceans to write about.
3. Can you write your own page for the book? Try to have a heading, sub-heading, information, a fact box, diagram, map or picture with labels or captions (see resources below for help).
4. You could even write difficult words in bold text and have your own glossary at the end!
