Let’s reminded ourselves about tenths and hundreds in preparation for our work on equivalent fractions this week. I have attached the worksheet below.
We are now moving onto work on equivalent fractions. Watch this video and complete the worksheet for lesson 2.
Watch this video and complete the worksheet for lesson 3.
Quite often, children believe that there is only one way to represent a fraction. Usually by drawing a pizza with one slice highlighted. Can you find different ways to match these equivalent fractions?
Here are a printable version of the cards:
You can also complete the activity interactively here: https://nrich.maths.org/pelmanisms/main.html?game=matchingfractions&timer=hidden&faceup=true
Use the sheet attached to shade in the given fractions. You then need to cut them out and put them in order from smallest to largest. What do you notice? Answer the questions on the sheet.
If you go outside, or to the supermarket, this week, can you spot any fractions? How do we use them in our everyday life? What do they mean in the context you have seen them in? How can they help you?
