Times Tables

If children know their multiplicative facts to automaticity, then they can apply their multiplicative reasoning to more complex mathematical concepts without overloading their brains.

At New Scotland Hill, we follow the National Centre For The Excellence In Teaching Mathematics' Mastering Number at KS2 programme. This ensures that children know their multiplication facts to automaticity and understand the underlying structure of each times table. Sessions are taught daily in Year 4 and 5, usually in the afternoons, aside from the main maths lesson.

You can find more information about Mastering Number at KS2 here.

In addition to Mastering Number at KS2, we use Times Table Rockstars to monitor pupils' progress and intervene where necessary.
