Week 3 (w/b 20/4/20)
This week's activities are all based on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, which is the book we would be reading if we were in school. There are links to the different chapters on YouTube but you might prefer to have your own copy: I really hope you enjoy it! Remember to keep reading for at least 20 minutes each day and do let me know if you've particularly enjoyed a book as I'd like to share your recommendations on the website.
This week's focus is number and place value. It should all be revision! Each day, please complete the fluency and reasoning problems to keep your skills sharp and then use the suggested resources to practise ordering and rounding numbers, using negative numbers and BODMAS.
Our topic this term is 'Meet the Greeks'. We can't do our usual topic launch day but we're aiming to give you a taste of what Greece is like now and how the ancient Greeks have influenced our lives in the 21st century. It's not easy to start a new topic when you're working independently but just do your best and choose the activities that work for you. In science, we are finding out about influential scientists and this week it's one of our favourites- David Attenborough. You are also encouraged to keep up with your French on Duolingo, which can be accessed online or as a free app. This is a great way to practise the language, with game-like lessons where you earn gems and move up the levels as you progress. A weekly activity similar to our team starters in class is also set for you.
Please email photos of your work so we can see what everyone is doing.
