Week 7- 18.05.20

Dear Reception and Nursery,

I hope everyone is well and staying safe.

It feels like a very long time since I have seen you all.  Thank goodness for the photographs and videos!

On that note, on behalf of all the Early Years staff we wanted to say thank you for the Reception video.  It was lovely seeing all the water gun fun that was going on!

I hope you have enjoyed the work we have done on People Who Help Us this term. This week I thought we could share the popular text 'You Choose' by Nick Sharratt.  I look forward to seeing some of the activities that you complete at home.

Well done for continuing to smile and being good for your parents!

Fingers crossed this lovely weather is here to stay! smiley

Letters and Sounds Phonics

We follow this programme at school and we are now being offered a chance to have daily live lessons.

Take a look and see if it is something your child would benefit from.

Oxford Owl

We know that many children have read their reading scheme books from school and so we are setting up some (socially distanced) book swapping at school. Mr Cotterill has given more information in this week's newsletter about how this will work. However, you can also access free e-books from the reading scheme (and you can search by the colour your child is on.)

Simply register and there are lots of great ideas in ways to support your child at home.

Maths Home Learning with White Rose Maths

At New Scotland Hill, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of learning. To help children continue learning with the same techniques we use at school, I will be setting work from the WRM website. Children should start with Week 1 and do one activity each day.

Each activity comes with a short video, showing what is being taught, and this is followed up with a fun activity.

You can access Summer Term Week 4 ' The Very Busy Spider'

( w/c 11.05.20) here: https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/

White Maths is also supported by the Numberblocks programme on CBeebies.
