Week 8- 01.06.20
Dear Reception and Nursery,
I hope everyone is safe and well. We have been very lucky with our half term weather, beautiful sunshine and a clear blue sky to look up to.
Thanks again to those parents that have managed to upload photographs onto Tapestry.

Letters and Sounds Phonics
We follow this programme at school and we are now being offered a chance to have daily live lessons.
Take a look and see if it is something your child would benefit from.

Oxford Owl
We know that many children have read their reading scheme books from school and so we are setting up some (socially distanced) book swapping at school. Mr Cotterill has given more information in this week's newsletter about how this will work. However, you can also access free e-books from the reading scheme (and you can search by the colour your child is on.)
Simply register and there are lots of great ideas in ways to support your child at home.
Our new topic is Traditional Tales
Our first text is The Three Little Pigs.
If you do not have a copy of this classic story, please use the link below to share with your child.

The Three Little Pigs
Here is another link to a PowerPoint version of the story.

There are alternative versions of this story like 'The Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig' which the children may enjoy.
It is also a great story for role-play, if you have any props around the house to bring the story alive that would also be another memorable experience for the children.

Maths Home Learning with White Rose Maths
At New Scotland Hill, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme of learning. To help children continue learning with the same techniques we use at school, I will be setting work from the WRM website. Children should start with Week 1 and do one activity each day.
Each activity comes with a short video, showing what is being taught, and this is followed up with a fun activity.
White Maths is also supported by the Numberblocks programme on CBeebies.
