We hope you have all had a restful and enjoyable Easter break and we look forward to welcoming you back to school on Tuesday 16th April 2024.

Our topic this term is called The Rainforest where we will be spending time learning about the structures of rainforests and their inhabitants with a specific focus on the Amazon Rainforest.

Our learning will include:

  • Understanding the geographical features of rainforests including their locations around the world.
  • Exploring the different plants and animals that live in rainforests.
  • Understanding the current threats to the survival of rainforests.
  • Exploring what it is like to live in a rainforest both in current times and during the time of the Maya.

Within our topic work, we will also be developing our art skills by exploring the work of the artist Henri Rousseau

Throughout our topic, we will be considering the following key questions and using our research and knowledge to answer them at the end of term:

  • Why are rainforests so important?

  • What is causing their disappearance?

  • What impact have the Maya had on us today?

  • How did the Maya live?

  • How are the Maya similar to other civilisations?

Additional details about our topic learning can be found here.
